Dan was born in Nepal, into a Hindu family, and accepted Christ in 1988. Since 1993, he has been carrying out the Great Commission full time through evangelistic ministry, church planting, and pastoral leadership that includes a Church Planting Catalyst among the Asian community in the Northeast United States for the North American Mission Board. He is considered one of the pioneering Nepali missionaries and catalysts of the church planting movement among the Nepalese diaspora in the United States.

Dan is an active conference speaker, church planting multiplication consultant, missions trainer, and missionary consultant. He has trained gospel workers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Korea, and Nepal.

He received his BTh from Southern Asia Bible College in Bangalore, India, his M.Div from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his STM from Boston University. He is husband to Mandira, and they have two children: Anugrah and Aaron. They currently reside in the Charlotte area of North Carolina.
